That is wrong. This is refering to a lunar eclipse. The only time the Earth shadow comes to play on the cycles of the moon is during a lunar eclipse.
Othewise the cycles of the moon are merely the aspect angle of the sun shining on the moon as we see it from the earth. Fact.
No one has suggested that we didn’t send our astronauts into space. The launch happened as witnessed by thousands. So did the splash downs. As witnessed by hundreds. The suggestion was that we never left the earth’s orbit passing through and outside of the protection of the Van Allen radiation belts.
