As far as shots fired, the Umbrella Gun fired the first shot into the throat which paralyzed the President. This weapon was discussed in open testimony some years later before the Frank Church Committee. As the President appears from behind the sign, the umbrella is opened and the President grasps his throat. According to testimony, opening the umbrella fires the shot. There were perhaps 3 individuals at best in the CIA that were marksmen with this weapon. The sound made, however, does not mimic a gunshot. This paralyzing dart set up the President for the crossfire ahead, with 4 shots being picked up by a dictabelt on one of the motorcycles. It was that recording that forced the House Assassinations Committe to reach the conspiracy conclusion, as Oswald could not have possibly fired 4 shots in the time allotted.
